Tenets of Faith and Doctrine

 The Church of God of the Union Assembly proudly celebrates its long history and doctrinal clarity. As part of the Holiness / Wesleyan tradition we faithfully continue our unwavering stand on those points of doctrine that uniquely identify the Church of God of the Union Assembly. The Church of God of the Union Assembly does hereby state our beliefs in, and support for, the following foundational, orthodox Christian doctrines;

Note: All scriptures cited are from the Authorized King James Version.

 The Trinity

3 separate, co-equal, eternal beings; Father, Son, & Holy Ghost

1 Jn. 5:7, 2 Cor. 13:14, Phil. 2:6, Mt. 28:19

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible is the written record of God‘s revelation to man. It is complete and infallible. It is sufficient for life, faith, and practice. It is superior to conscience and reason but not contrary to reason.

2 Pet. 1:20 & 21, 2 Tim. 3:16, 1 Thess. 2:13,

  The Deity of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was with God the Father, was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, died an atoning death, rose the third day, ascended back to heaven, and will physically return to this earth.

 Jn. 1:1, 2 & 14, Is. 7:14, Mt. 1:23, 1 Pet. 2:22, 1 Tim. 2:5 & 6, Acts 1:11

Fallen Man’s Only Hope of Redemption

Salvation is provided though the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. His shed blood alone can cleanse sin.

 Acts 17:28, Acts 4:12, Heb. 9:22

  The First & Second Resurrection

Jesus Christ rose the 3rd day, at His appearing all that are in the grave shall hear his voice.

 1 Cor. 15: 3 & 4, Jn. 5:25-29, Acts 4:33

  The Physical Return of Christ

Jesus Christ will return to the earth the same way He left it.

 1 Thess. 3:13, 4:15

  Baptism by Immersion

Buried with Him, to rise in newness of life. In the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost.

 Rom. 6:4, Col. 2:12 Matt. 28:19

  The Sacrament of Marriage

Established by God and honored by Christ, the institution of marriage consists of the union of one man and one woman.

Mark 10:7-10, Gen. 1:27 & 28, Eph. 5:31,

The Baptism of The Holy Ghost

At salvation God gives every believer the gift of The Holy Ghost. The Baptism of The Holy Ghost brings about a new dimension to the believer.  The gifts of The Holy Ghost are essential to the church and to the believer.

Rom. 8:14, Luke 3:16, 1Cor. 12:4-7

As a progressive and continuing work of grace, every believer is compelled to grow in their relationship with God.   2 Tim. 2:21, Rom. 15:16, Jn. 17:19

  Divine Healing

As with all New Testament doctrines, God’s Word is clear on this point. He alone has the power to heal. Physical healing may be immediate or incremental. Emotional, relational, or familial healing is provided for as well.

James 5:14 &15, Luke 9:2, 1 Cor. 12:9

  The Church

The Church is the body of Christ. Each and every believer, born of water and Spirit is an integral part of the church of God.

Rom. 12:5, 1 Cor. 12:12, Jn. 10:16, Jn. 3:5
